St. Patrick's Day Project March 15, 2012 - March 20,
2012
St. Patrick's Day
Project is a
collaborative Internet project
hosted by Jennifer Wagner ,
Each
class will count the number of
marshmallow shapes: pots of gold, green
hat, horseshoes, orange clover, moons,
rainbows, hearts, and balloons in
a box of Lucky Charms Cereal.
Each child will record his/her
results on a tally sheet and create a
graph to represent their count.
Student totals will be added
together to create a class count
and a class graph. The class
results will be sent to Jennifer Wagner
between March 15 and March 18. A
grand total will be posted on March 23.

Each child received a
bag of cereal. Each child recorded the
number of each marshmallow shape using tally
marks. Then each child created a bar
graph of their marshmallow shapes. We
then created a class tally mark sheet and
bar graph.
The greatest number of marshmallow shapes
was rainbows in our box of
cereal. We have predicted that
the clovers will be the highest in the grand
total. We decided to see if the other
shapes would be in the same order as our
results and the grand total. In our
results the results for greatest to
least common shape are: Rainbows,
Green Clovers, Pots of Gold, Horseshoes, Balloons,
Moons, Hearts and
Shooting Stars.
The children are wondering if their
results will be the same as the grand total.
The results from the grand total in order
from greatest to least are: Green Clovers,
Rainbows, Pots of Gold, Hearts, Horseshoes,
Hearts, Balloons, and Shooting Stars.
